Meet Clara Hervé

The Institut français’s foundation, Fondation 55, has invited Clara Hervé to Hamburg this year for a creative residency. Illustrator and comic book author Clara Hervé lives and works in Strasbourg. She is part of a new generation of female artists who are reimagining and further developing the narrative forms of contemporary comics. Her career to date has already been recognized with several awards: she won the “Prix Jeunes Talents” at the Angoulême International Comics Festival; she received a grant from the Grand Est region’s literary support program; and her first comic,*Lili met les voiles*, was published in 2024 (Éditions Biscoto). During her stay in Hamburg, Clara Hervé will work on her new comic project*Les escargots meurent debout*—an original story about music, imagination, identity, and artistic creation.
