Comicfestival Hamburg
3.-5.10.25
The Comic Festival Hamburg brings extraordinary culture to everyday places. Now in its 16th edition, the festival is dedicated to introducing the art of comics—often seen as a niche form—to a broad audience, bringing them since 2006 into cafés, shops, and even onto the walls of St. Pauli.
Over the years, the festival has grown into one of the most important meeting points of the German comics scene. With a free program of exhibitions, workshops, readings, and a fair, it makes comic art accessible both to industry professionals and to local residents in and around St. Pauli and Neustadt. In close cooperation with the Illustration program at HAW Hamburg, the festival places a special emphasis on supporting emerging local talent.
The event fosters connections among comic artists, with publishers, and most importantly with new audiences. In addition to classic gallery exhibitions and book presentations, the Comic Festival stands out for using shop windows and local stores as exhibition spaces. In this unconventional way, we involve neighborhood businesses and successfully strengthen community ties.
Free guided tours and workshops also introduce the work of comic creators to those new to the medium. A special children’s program encourages young audiences to read and draw comics themselves.
