Conference of Animals

On Friday, this year’s Comic Festival will open in the MK&G’s Freiraum with the “Conference of Animals”, which will also feature works by students from the HAW Hamburg’s Department of Design in the exhibition “Funny Animals”. The Raum für Illustration will also be on site with lots of funny animal motifs by Anna Haifisch, Nadine Redlich and Stefanie Leinhos, among others. The fabric stickers can be purchased and ironed onto textiles brought along (all items of clothing with at least 80% cotton content are possible, no jeans).
The Freiraum is a socio-cultural meeting and project space for guests and employees as well as the museum’s direct and indirect neighbors. The space is accessible free of charge and invites you to linger, read and discuss.

Workshops

“Oh, that’s how it is! — Comics as a tool to convey complex information in an accessible way”
Workshop with Felix Bork

Sat 12:00

All over the world, animals are constantly doing fabulous, wondrous and curious things. In this workshop, we will look at particularly unusual and sometimes complicated behaviors, interpret them and use sequential illustration to explain exciting processes in nature. Together we will develop our own little animal identification book.
Felix Bork (*1988) is an illustrator and author from Berlin. In 2019, his book “Oh, eine Pflanze“ was named one of the 25 most beautiful German books.
For adults and young people aged 16 and over (max. 10 participants, duration approx. 2 hours). Some previous knowledge of comics is helpful, but not essential! Please register (by 04.10.) by e-mail with the subject “Ach, so ist das!“ to workshops@comicfestivalhamburg.de

“The fastest comics in the world!”
Workshop with Madita Schwenke

Sun 12:00

Many things slow down comic creators — including perfectionism and fear of the blank sheet of paper. In this workshop, we’ll fight art block with the aim of drawing comics, but fast! We will create small zines that participants can take home with them.
Madita Schwenke (*1996) studies illustration at HAW Hamburg with a focus on graphic storytelling.
For adults and young people aged 16 and over (max. 10 participants, duration approx. 2 hours). No previous knowledge of comics necessary! Please register (until 04.10.) by e-mail with the subject „Die schnellsten Comics der Welt!“ to workshops@comicfestivalhamburg.de
